THE LAST TIME I KISSED YOU
You said-
"I will see you in a few days"
A few days later you called me and asked
' did you see the news?'
I said - 'yes'
We both tried to seek comfort in the silence tht followed.
You told me - ' don't worry, it's just a matter of few weeks'.
A few weeks later I kept my door open, hoping to see you.
But soon the news of the extension of your absence came.
You asked me to promise you.
That the fear will not enter the door of our hearts.
That we will only hold each other to sleep, when we meet.
I said - 'okay'
But held fear in my arms to sleep that night
And you never slept.
You said - longing was just a word, and that distance is just a state of mind.
Over a month later you confessed - this may not be a Matter of a few weeks. Longing may have been more than just a word, I've come to know.
You said you saw our love on the news today.
' it was breaking' - you said
I told you - I've stopped believing in the news since ' I've met you'.
I promised you - a pandemic can only forecast the weather not our love, love.
I believed you.
The last time I kissed you
I had not known, it would be so long till I kiss you again.
I wish I had closed my eyes longer and held your waist tighter.
I thought the street of our kisses would always be busy but I've never seen a street this empty.
So till I kiss you again.
I will not tune into the news.
I will sleep to the memory of yours.
And I will continue to believe that longing is just another word.
I do not know the meaning to.
