Whosoever said " Diamonds are a girls girlfriend" was lying to you, they clearly never had an army of girlfriends that physically stop you from drunk texting your ex on Saturday, may be they didn't know, that friendships are stronger and last longer then the 💎.

The thing is I am quite tired of the conversation around engagement rings. You know when women say they're engaged, and it's met with "OMG, show me the ring?"

Yeah, I hate to break it to you, but that's also patriarchy.🙅

It's extremely unfair to men in a society where we put that kind of pressure on them to prove their worth. The stereotype - 3 month salary on engagement ring in old fashioned. It's usually assumed that bigger the stone, the more status the man you're marrying has and while rich families may not feel the brunt of that tradition - it's quite a ridiculous requirement for a men to live upto.

The men we love are out there, our age, struggling like us, to reach their goals and achieve their dreams - they shouldn't have to prove their love on the basis of how much money they're ready to spend on a 💍

Imagine if you'd worked so hard to get where you are in life, saved, fallen in love, and then been told to prove you're in love by throwing money at the situation?

Engagement rings go all the way back to a Roman custom, when wives wore rings attached to small keys, indicating their husbands ownership. I know rings means a lot more to couples today the just " ownership" - the reason why they had to be so extravagantly and expensive & bought by men, were absolutely sexiest reasons.

What you and your partner wants is upto you, no one has the right to decide for you, but as a society - I don't think this should be the expectation from men. We don't want to be owned by men, but we want to spend half their savings on the big stone anyway.

I get the love for bling✨- I love it too, so my question is:-

When you're the one wearing it, why not save up to buy one for yourself? Or together?
